Disability
Context
In 2004 The Nottinghamshire Consortium commissioned a report entitled Report of investigations into the infrastructure support needs of groups controlled and run by disabled people in Nottinghamshire and the resources currently used by them, Equal Ability.
The report was commissioned in response to ChangeUp’s directive in investigating the needs of disadvantaged groups. Whilst the report highlighted the needs of disability led groups and made clear recommendations there is no documented work by the Consortium since that date. It is assumed that no action was taken for a number of reasons particularly lack of funds
Project proposal Development of disability infrastructure
Aim to support the development of infrastructure support and representation models for disability led organisations in the city and county that
- Provides a voice for the sector
- Identifies needs and gaps in sector provision
- Supports disability led organisations to engage in local and regional initiatives
- Shares information, policy and guidance
- Supports development of effective partnership work with LIOs
- Supports involvement in the decision making processes of our statutory partners.
We are currently trying to source funding to support a Disability worker and help progress this work
