Terms of Reference

Objectives
The Forum will work together to achieve better outcomes for the families, children and young people of Nottinghamshire by consulting and involving the VCS.

Role
• Supporting all voluntary and community sector organisations working with families, young people and children across the whole of Nottinghamshire.

• Providing access to high quality information, policy guidance, information sharing, and a sign posting service.

• Facilitating our sector to provide a strong, cohesive, informed voice to make sure we input into decisions that effect us as a sector and most importantly those that we work with – both a county strategic and more local level.

• Assisting individuals and small organisations to become effective contributors to the wider agenda that affect them.

• Ensuring an effective two way communication between organisations and the strategic partnerships across the county.

• To make the VCS more aware of funding opportunities, commissioning and joint working opportunities.

• To expand established links with everyone working with children, young people and families.

• To ensure appropriate services are delivered to meet the needs of children, young people and families.

• To work together to promote community cohesion.

• To make recommendations where relevant.

• To establish subgroups and new links as necessary.

• To act as a consultation forum for relevant equality impact assessments.

These aims will be achieved through working in partnership with the statutory and voluntary sector. The Forum will form close links to the whole of the VCS by utilising its members to the full, in particular it will use Forum Representatives to attend partnership meetings across the county.
